  • Bio

VENUS AND THE RAZORBLADES IS AN UNSIGNED BAND SEEKING LABEL DISTRIBUTION AND REPRESENTATION. INTERESTED PARTIES CAN OBTAIN PRESS KITS, BIOS AND CDS BY E-MAILING: STEVETETSCH@YAHOO.COM VENUS AND THE RAZORBLADES ARE BACK!!! From Southern California Babylon has come this album of raging noize and bleeding vocals. This follow-up to their 1977 classic "Songs From the Sunshine Jungle" which featured UK chart hits "Punk-A-Rama" and "I Wanna Be Where the Boys Are" has the dark hard sounds and twisted lyrics of the first album. Male brutality, female hotrod adventures, punk horror stories, rehab hospital confessions, female lust screams, freak scenes, youth trash culture, lesbian seduction and girl on girl drug abuse - it's all there. In the mid-70's, the legendary Kim Fowley conceived, created, produced and managed the seminal all-grrrl band The Runaways, but the relationship soured after only a few years because of demands and infighting. Fowley's (along with Steven T.) knee-jerk response to this situation was to conceive Venus and the Razorblades. Kim and Steven held auditions and the results were: Venus aka Steven T. (writer, singer, lead guitar, vocals), Vicki Razorblade (vocals), Ronnie Lee (guitar, vocals - replacing original member Dianne Diamond who left for a solo career, as later Steven T. did), Danielle Faye (bass, vocals) and Kyle Raven (drums - replacing original drummer Nicky Beat. A teenage pre-Cobain Courtney Love unsucessfully tried out (among other now-famous women) but remains a fan. Venus and the Razorblades was the first group to appear live on the initial broadcast of Rodney Bingenheimer's "Rodney on the Roq" radio show on KROQ-FM in L.A. The band opened shows for Van Halen, Oingo Boingo and Fear among others to very favorable resonse, before breaking up after only 6 months of existence so that Steven T. could pursue a solo career. Steven T. decided to revive the band in '04 after completing a solo UK tour in which Venus fans showed up in droves requesting their old LPs be signed and when will there be a comeback. So now, instead of a flip-o'-the-bird to the Runaways, Kim and Steven point the middle finger straight at American Idol and say, "Get Real!!! Listen to some old-school in your face kick-ass rock and roll fun!!!" .. .... I edited my profile with ..Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6..! ....
