    I am slightly embarrassed to admit that I know little to nothing about this cat Tone Spliff, but after bumping his latest free release "Authentic", I had to just put it up anyway. From what I gather off his myspace page (the only resource I could find with info on him) Tone is a producer/DJ operating out of Utica, NY who also does graphic design and collaborates frequently with, and may even be an in-house producer for underground emcee Copywrite.

    "Authentic" isn't Tone's first underground/mixtape release, but it damn sure is a great way to make an impression on people like myself, who up until now, were unfamiliar with most of his stuff. A wildly skilled producer who also is pretty adept at scratching, Tone's beats are pretty much up to this boom bap enthusiast's snuff. I was really impressed with the artist lineup and the soundscape provided on "Authentic".

    Featuring original and exclusive guest appearances from many of your favorite underground artist's rhyming over his production that ranges from gritty to clean, this is a can't miss....Grab it here or for free on his myspace page. Tracks to check for are "Inside Out", "If You Forgot My Name" and "State Of Mind".

  • If you would like to featured on Utica Hip-Hop....

    I've been getting alot of messages from local artists asking why they are not featured on the page. There are way to many artists in Utica for me to find everyone and get songs from everyone. Its not that I'm trying to leave anyone out its just impossible to keep track of everybody. So if anyone is interested in being featured on the page or would like an ad or flyer featured please e-mail everything to

    If its not sent to the e-mail it will not be featured on the page...and please no messages asking me download something off your page. When you are sending songs please make sure the file is a MP3. Thats the only type that can be uploaded to myspace ... I will not be converting files.

    Utica Hip-Hop will no longer feature artist banners or music videos due to the fact that it clutters and slows down the page. If you would like a video on the page it has to be a promotional video. Three videos (from different artists or groups)  will be on the page at one time and will be changed monthly. Show and CD release flyers are more then welcome but please remember to e-mail the flyer or link to the flyer. These too will be changed out periodicaly.
