Sebastian is one of the most important new reggae artists in Europe even though 29 year old Sebastian Sturm is one of the youngest reggae entertainers. The readers of Europe’s most important reggae magazine Riddim voted him Best Newcomer 2007 and only one Year and one hundred shows later he arrived at the big stages. His sensational live performances brought him to places like the Zenith in Paris(F) , the Summerjam in Cologne (D) the Ancienne Belgique in Bruxelles (B) , the Garorock Festival in Marmande (F), and the Caprice Festival in Crans Montana (CH). Another highlight was the show with Rockers Legend Kiddus I at the Reggae Sun Ska Festival in Cissac Medoc (F). In 2009 Sebastian Sturm & JIN JIN will play at the Solidays Festival in Paris (F), the Rototom Festival near Venice (I) and the Ocean Spirit Festival near Lisboa (P) and many more.
Yes indeed, this artist is extraordinary, this artist is incredible for two reasons: his voice and his music! Consequently he developed further his own style of combining classic song writing and authentic Reggae. Sebastian also attaches great importance to authentic lyrics and authentic sound. Fortunately you won..t find any reggae clichés and his last Album One Moment in Peace was strictly recorded with real instruments and similar equipment as used in the Channel One, Motown- and Abbey Road Studios. Even live Sebastian Sturm & JIN JIN bring instruments of the golden Age of Roots reggae on stage.
“I really love travelling through the world because of music. But the best thing is playing at cities where we..ve never been before, and watching people dancing and singing our songs”, says Sebastian.
Sebastian Sturm is the result of a german-indonesian love story. Born 1980 in Aachen, Germany he grew up in the triangle of Holland, Belgium and Germany. He founded his first Punk band at the age of 14 but came from Punk to Ska to Reggae. Sebastian is taking his own way to the top.

Aus einer regungslosen Nation erhebt sich plötzlich ein junger Roots Sänger mit dem bürgerlichen Namen Sebastian Sturm und verbreitet positive Vibes der Erneuerung schreibt Riddim (04/2006). Und tatsächlich: Sebastian Sturm gehört zur jüngsten Generation von Reggae Künstlern und performt den Reggae der 70er in einer Authentizität, die zumindest in Deutschland einmalig ist. Dabei trifft er zielsicher den Nerv aller Generationen ohne in Plattitüden abzurutschen. Ob auf Platte oder im Konzert: bei Sebastian Sturm ist alles live. Es groovt und rollt, es herrscht eine relaxte Spannung, unterhaltsam präsentiert von einem sympathischen Ausnahmekünstler mit charismatischer Stimme. Sebastian Sturm wurde 1980 als Sohn einer indonesischen Mutter und eines deutschen Vaters geboren und wuchs im Dreiländereck von Holland, Belgien und Deutschland auf. Mit 14 gründete er seine erste Punkband, entdeckte im Laufe der Zeit aber immer mehr seine Liebe zum Reggae. Er performte in den Dancehalls, gründete die Reggae Band Jogit Beat und erspielte sich so den Status des Lokalhelden der recht aktiven Reggae und Dancehallszene des Dreiländerecks. Als die Band sich 2005 trennte, war es nur eine Frage der Zeit, bis es zur Reggaekoalition mit JIN JIN kam. Mit dieser Band im Rücken hat er eine Backing Band gefunden, die zu den deutschen Reggae Bands der ersten Stunde gehört und den meisten Reggaefans als Stammgast des Summerjams bekannt sein dürfte. Sebastian Sturm gibt dem Roots Reggae mit seinem Longplayer This Change Is Nice eine Zukunft und ein neues Gesicht!

Mit einer Benefiz- CD macht die Baobab Family auf ihr Haus für Waisenkinder in Mikindani und Homa Bay/ Kenia aufmerksam. Auch ich habe den Song „Tell Them The Truth“ zu dem Sampler beigetragen. Außerdem gibs nen nicen Allstar Track „Respect“ mit 17 Artists aus Deutschland, Frankreich und Kenia auf der CD.
