Sacred Mother Tongue were the best kept secret in British Metal but since exploding onto the scene in 2009, they have established themselves as one of the most respected British breakthrough artists in their genre.

It was following their release of 'Revenge is Personal' (2007) that they met Metal-Maestro Scott Atkins (Romeo Must Die, Behemoth, Cradle of Filth, Breed 77), who produced Sacred Mother Tongue’s debut release of ‘Two Thousand Eight Hundred’. The single pushed the button on what you can only describe as an explosion, kindled by stunning song-craft and musicianship and fuelled by the media attention that ensued. ..

The single, which made number 4 in the National Rock charts, hinted at the calibre of the forthcoming album, making ‘The Ruin of Man’ (2009) one of the most hotly anticipated debut Metal albums in a long time. ..

By the end of 2009, the band had racked up a staggering number of live shows and press accolades. To their name, they supported the likes of Lamb of God, Johnny Truant & Evile, made numerous festival appearances including those at Hellfire Festival, Hammerfest , Hard Rock Hell and, of course, the hallowed Download Festival stages, not to mention the 25 date UK headline tour, sponsored by Scuzz. ..

Since then, they have consistently delivered their own potent Rock/Metal crossover mix, never failing to impress a crowd, whether playing on the huge festival stages of the likes of Download (2009 & 2011) and Sonisphere (2010), to the well trodden UK and European circuit. 'The Ruin of Man' continued to receive widespread critical acclaim and continued to gather pace around the world, even over a year after its release. ..

2011 saw the band enter a new phase, kicking off with a 13 date headline UK tour. Invited to open second stage at Download Festival, and under the Metal scene’s watchful eyes, Sacred Mother Tongue debuted some exclusive material from their new album. They not only pulled the largest crowd for an opening act all weekend on their stage, but Metal Hammer deemed them “...on great form. New material sounding heavy as hell.” ..

Guitarist Andy James himself also completed his epic, self-titled ‘Instru-Metal’ album, due for release on July 18th. For some time, he was widely regarded as a rising star, but has now undeniably earned himself a place among the best in the world of Shred & Metal guitar. ..
