Ronnie Montrose (1947 – 2012)

Ronald Douglas "Ronnie" Montrose (November 29, 1947 –March 3, 2012) was an American rock guitarist who led a number of his own bands as well as performed and did session work with a variety of musicians, including Sammy Hagar, Herbie Hancock, Van Morrison, The Beau Brummels, Boz Scaggs, Kathi McDonald, Paul Kantner, Gary Wright, Tony Williams, The Neville Brothers, Dan Hartman, Marc Bonilla, Edgar Winter, and Johnny Winter.

Montrose experimented with a variety of musical styles, and his playing inspired countless future guitar players (some of whom wound up being very significant musical figures). His band and solo projects enjoyed mixed degrees of commercial success, but his commitment to artistic honesty was always beyond question, and his records were often groundbreaking & bold musical statements.

...this is a "tribute" myspace page dedicated to the inspired body of work left behind by this truly gifted player (www.ronniemontrose.com is an official web site). may we suggest, if you are so inclined..."the ronnie montrose fund" (benefiting bay area musicians in need) as a terrific way to honor ronnie's memory:: https://www.sweetrelief.org/event/a-concert-for-ronnie-montrose-a-celebration-of-his-life-in-music/
