I should have told you this long time ago. But first things first.
 
Although we’re practically neighbours (I live in Portugal), I can’t write you this homage in your own language for I don’t speak it. I can understand it but not enough to write it down.
 
Now, let’s get to what matters: when I first saw you many years ago was in a Mexican Channel (I think it was Mexican – something called HTV or some similar acronym), and you were performing “Desatame”. I confess the first thing that appealed to me was not the music but the video. It seemed so strange and rather forward for that time. I remember calling my wife and tell her, “Hey honey, check out this girl... she has one side of her hair with one colour and the other with another.» So we both stood there watching and listening to the music and somehow, along your performing, I thought to myself “She’s not just beautiful. She really CAN sing.»
 
So, one day, a few months later,  I was rummaging in a Fnac store looking for CDs and I came across with your “Palabra de Mujer”. I grabbed it, took a better look at it and I told to myself “This is the girl who had half of her hair dyed in one tone and the other half in another... (it was also shown on the front cover)» I had already overdue my budget for CDs but I said “What a hell, I’ll give it a try. At least she’s original and had the guts to perform that daring video. And at least I liked that one song (“Desatame” was the only one I knew by then).  And I bought it. A little afraid, I admit. I was thinking that if it happened that I only liked that particular song it would be a complete waste of money. Especially for someone who had not much of it to spend randomly.
 
Then I got home and put the record on the CD player. Yeah, the first song was “Desatame” which was cool. I knew that one, already. After that I was a bit apprehensive, not knowing what to expect. Would it be just fillers? Just pieces of junk to pass the time? Simple feelings, void of contents, just to support a so-called album? The next song was “Empiezo a Recordarte” and I was listening to it and saying to myself at the same time “Fuck (sorry, but it really was what I thought) she really CAN sing. She REALLY REALLY CAN sing”. And then came “Yo Vengo Y Tu Te Vas”. In my mind I kept thinking in your performing of “Empiezo a Recordarte”. And then came “Entender El Amor”. By then I was awestruck with you and your band mates and composers. And then it was time for “Amame O Dejame”, and that’s when I fell in love with your CD.  By then I was already hooked up and I kept on listening, certain that whatever would come next wouldn’t be anything disappointing. And I was right. It wasn’t.
 
After the last song, “Tu Y Yo Volvemos Al Amor”, I was completely flabbergasted by what I had listened – your voice, the lyrics, the melodies, the arrangements, the orchestrations (you name it, it was all there) – and I still didn’t know what had hit me in the gut, as well as in my heart, mind and soul, musically speaking. I didn’t know if it was Pop, Rock, or whatever it might be. And I didn’t care one single bit. All I cared was that I got myself an AMAZING record... bought almost out of a feeling.    
 
When the CD ended I just said out loud: “This is a fucking masterpiece!”  
Well, a few years later I got your “Minage”. It was something utterly different. But it’s another masterpiece, without a doubt. And I saw a much mature young woman expressing herself in a very special way. Unafraid what people might think of those opinions just put like that (some more frontal than others, but regardless, they were all there for everyone who really wanted to listen to the meanings). It was a CD with messages so powerful and portentous that you wouldn’t guess, after only knowing “Palabra de Mujer”, you would approach such new universes in that manner. Not only artistically, but also socially. There are very very heavy songs on that record. And once again you had the courage to stand up for your ideals. Not everyone has such bravery within themselves. You have.  Because this is a chauvinistic and hypocrite world... no matter what they say – specially men (yeah, I’m talking against my kind but truth is to be told) – and you, women, have to work twice as much (or more) than us to make it. To get there. And it doesn’t matter the profession you’re in. It’s all the same. A man’s world. A cynical and cheating world where values mean nothing at all. Fortunately some of you ladies, for some years now, are fighting against this Statuos Quo.
This is already turned out into a too long comment, for which I apologize, but I had no way to tell you these feelings in a shorter text. And in spite that I don’t know if you ever going to read it, I really don’t care. I owe it to you, and so, here you have it.

P.S.2: I also have your “Chicas Malas”. Another great album. I know you have an album called “Tarantula” which I don’t know it yet. I’ll get it as soon as possible.
