Voices United, a group envisioned in the heart of its founder Mike McCoy, put together this powerful collection of anointed singers that consist of choir directors, preachers, praise & worship leaders, musicians and evangelists from various churches in the Washington Metropolitan area. Formed in 1994, their purpose was to draw souls to Christ and to minister to the body of Christ through songs, and praise & worship. Their singing style incorporates the contemporary sound but maintains the traditional gospel flavor... .. Mike McCoy & Voices United was originally formed with forty voices. In 1998, the group was reorganized with an active membership of twenty-five singers. On Saturday, August 22, 1998, MMVU recorded their first live CD project entitled, "Ready", which was released on June 1, 2000... .. On October 27, 2000, MMVU was nominated for the "Best Local Gospel Group" in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area by the Minister of Music Threefold Music Group. They were featured in the Washington Informer newspaper. In February of 2006 MMVU won the Gospel Heritage Praise & Worship Choir Competition nation wide. On June 4th 2006 MMVU won $5000.00 for the Christian Hang Suite Gospel Choir Competition. This competition involved 15 choirs from the Washington, DC metropolitan area. .. .. God has truly blessed this group enabling them to minister through song in various local and regional churches throughout the Eastern region. They have also ministered with such artists as: Vickie Winans, , Stephen Hurd, , , and many others... .. Mike McCoy, a well noted artist, musician and song writer has ministered through song in various local and regional churches throughout the Eastern region. He has worked with some of gospel's finest musical giants such as the late Thomas Whitfield, John P Kee, Yolanda Adams, Kurt Carr, Byron Cage, The 7 Sons of Soul, Richard Smallwood, Jonathan Nelson & Purpose, Maurette Brown- Clark, Stephen Hurd, Patrick Lundy & Minister of Music, Byron Cage, Shirley Caesar, Timothy Wright, Myrna Summers, Vanessa Williams, and many more. MMVU have opened for artists such as Karen Clark-Sheard, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Fred Hammond, Myron Butler & Levi, Byron Cage and Kurt Carr. .. .. MMVU has determined in their hearts to minister to the needs of the people. For the past several years the Lord has allowed the group to work with the Department of Social Services to sponsor families during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays... .. MMVU ministers through song and have an intense desire to "praise Him forever because He has done it"... .. .. ...... .. .. ..
