Bio
Her earliest influences being Brazilian BPM and Tropicalia (Adriana Calcanhotto, Os Mutantes), British Trip Hop (Portishead) and contemporary Folk (Elliott Smith), Mélissa Laveaux has earned the title of a musical triple-threat. She combines raspy, guttural singing with a self-taught percussive bass-heavy fingerpicking guitar style and promising songwriting in English, French and Creole. Currently based out of France (under the label NoFormat! - Gonzales), Laveaux regularly tours France, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Japan and Canada and is booked by 3DFamily. She's a regular at the Montreal Jazz Festival, les Francofolies de la Rochelle and many other main stages. -
