About me:

Rock, Indie, soul, pop and acoustic bands are gathering in Hesketh Bank for a repeat of last year’s highly successful Manor Farm Music Festival. As well as being a well known horticulturalist, Keith Dickinson was a huge fan of live music, and attended countless festivals and concerts throughout his life. So in Summer 2008 when he lost his battle with a brain tumour, his family and friends rallied round to organise a music festival on the land behind his house in Shore Road, Hesketh Bank, to raise money to support further research into the illness. This year we’re building on the success the last two so we can continue to help Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Brain Tumour Trust, and more importantly keep Keith’s memory alive. Around twenty bands and musicians will entertain the crowds at two stages between noon and midnight on Saturday 17th July. Keith’s gardens will also be open, and we have a range of craft, produce and art stalls. There will also be children’s entertainment and games such as a bouncy castle, raffle and other attractions. A range of food and drinks will be on sale, including a licenced bar, tea & cakes stall, hotdogs and vegatarian cuisine. Profits will go towards the charities. We are very pleased to announce that Dune FM's Martin Hovden and his co-presenter Lewis Overboard Hopson will be spporting the event and coming to join us on the day to announce acts on the Paddock Stage and keep everyone entertained. Tune in to the Live Sounds show on Saturdays between 6-8pm to listen to the hottest local bands and artists around and to keep updated on Manor Farm Music Festival. Tickets for the event are £7.50 or £10.00 at the gate, they are available from May at Top Shop Newsagents in Hesketh Bank, textig TICKETS to the ticket line: 07984183766 or by emailing info@manorfarmfest.org. More details about the festival and the line-up can be found at: www.manorfarmfest.org. ================================== A message from Keith's daughter, Suzanne: In July 2007 dad was diagnosed with a brain tumour. An operation to remove the tumour left him immobile. Furthur diagnosis post treatment suggested the tumour had returned and on the 24th June 2008 he passed away. We know our case is not exclusive, we hope to raise plenty of money for these charities to say a BIG thank you to Marie Curie for all their loving support, care and attention and to help future brain tumour patients with the work from The Brain Tumour Trust. The day is for ALL the family, we want people to have as much fun as possible as dad would love that very much as a horticulturist, he always had visitors at the home buying organic produce, and held garden open days. As a lover of jazz, funk and rock music he would have parties outdoors and attend festivals. At the farm there will be lots going on on the day, the main stage, bouncy castle, face painting, licenced bar, various food stands will be in the paddock, there will be a woodland walk lit by fairy lights in the evening with an acoustic stage. Various stalls in the yard and you will be able to enjoy three acres of gardens, fields and woodland brimming with herbs, plants and wildlife. Check out the photo gallery for a taster of whats in store and more info on the local bands and artists performing for us on the day!! Suzanne Dickinson x :-)
