Los Coronas son el grupo pionero y de mas repercusión del surf y r'n'r instrumental en España actualmente. Desde su formación en 1991, han pasado de crecer a la sombra del surf instrumental mas purista a reinventar un género que resulta estar más vivo que nunca. Claramente influenciados por la música de Duane Eddy, Link Wray, Dick Dale, los Ventures o Los Shadows, con el tiempo han sabido dar una vuelta de tuerca a su sonido añadiendo un sabor inconfundiblemente hispano. Si el estilo del surf instrumental se ha convertido en algo universal, ellos han decidido darle un sabor propio inyectándole toques de pasodoble, rumba y dándole un aire cinematográfico gracias al cual es fácil encontrar en su música ecos del Spaguetti Western o el cine negro. Una visión en la que las arenas de las playas californianas se unen a las arenas del desierto, logrando así un sonido surf fronterizo, cargado de aires sureños y con ecos de trompeta llamando a Degüello en el asedio del Alamo. En una curiosa apropiación de la esencia musical de México o el Sur de los EEUU, los Coronas lo asimilan, reinterpretan y se lo apropian como suyo Partiendo de un sonido que se alimenta directamente del primitivo r'n'r instrumental de las décadas de 1950 y 1960, Los Coronas hacen un repaso al espíritu de los spaghetti westerns, las cabalgadas de Curro Jiménez o los documentales de surf de Don Brown. Así renuevan y a la vez revisan un género, el Surf instrumental, que conocen bien, con el que han crecido y que llevan reivindicando desde sus inicios en 1991. Pero una vez aprendida la lección han decidido aportar una visión propia y particular en la que su mayor influencia ha pasado a ser su propia experiencia personal. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Los Coronas ( Surf Music, Spanish Style ) Independently seeping into the ears of r'n'r lovers, 50s and 60s instrumental fans, filmmakers and tastemakers, Los Coronas have forged a name for themselves with their distinctive blend of surf-tinged atmospheric twang and their own Spanish musical heritage. Los Coronas are widely recognized as Spain's best instrumental surf band. Their sound is a mix of Spanish melodies, raw r'n'r intensity and their own vision of the 60s Californian surf sound, blended with a heavy dose of Spaghetti Western echoes. Formed in Madrid in 1991, they have since released four albums, two compilations, and toured Spain, Europe, USA and Mexico several times. Their last record, "El baile final…" has been mixed by Craig Schumacher and mastered by JJ Golden with the goal to achieve a deeper, more atmospheric sound without losing the rock and roll punch. Those songs add a new taste to the influence of Spanish music in Mexico and the Southern part of the USA. Spanish “pasodoble” and “rumba” are mixed with frenetic descents full of intensity and r’n’r power, reactivating the musical exchange of Spanish and American influences., Current lineup.
