He takes the stage, pulls his fitted cap a little lower, waits for his cue, then with his own combination of boyish charm and finesse he sings his way into the hearts of thousands of young female 106 and Park viewers and fans. The talented crooner is none other than Lavell Evans or “Vell Vegas” as his friends call him. A singer/songwriter from Harlem, New York who recently took home the victory of best R&B Male Vocalist on “Wild Out Wednesday’s”, a competition that is held on the national television show provided by Black Entertainment Television (B.E.T) entitled 106 and Park. Throughout his journey in this business we call music, Lavell has maintained a level head and sustained his humility, which can only come from maturity and the right upbringing. Lavell is a self proclaimed “mama’s boy” who just hasn’t allowed his talent or resent fame taint his personality. Lavell prides himself on writing and recording “Real” R&B music and with influences such as Sam Cook, Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye you can understand why. Although Lavell is relatively young he is no stranger to the stage. He’s performed at several venues such as S.O.B’s, The Village Underground, Soul Café, Hampton University’s Homecoming, and the World Famous Apollo Theater, to name a few. Lavell Evans is a graduate from the “Fame School” LaGuardia H.S. of Music and Art and Five Towns College where he earned his B.P.S in Business Management with a concentration in Audio Recording. Lavell is currently lending his vocal abilities to solo artist "Jaheim" as well as the Legendary funk band "Kool and the Gang". When he’s not on tour with these Major recording artist, he is in the studio working on his solo project entitled “A Night In Vegas”, which is due out Late 2007, and judging by his current singles “Laughing” and “All You Need” This album is sure to be a classic. ..
