    Daniel Amat, Cuban pianist born in a small town of Havana called Güira de Melena. He grew up surrounded by the rhythms and harmonies of his native Cuba. From a very young age he was influenced by his father Pancho Amat, one of the most important tres players of all times, who passed him the tradition of son, trova, and rumba. While pursuing his formal studies at the National School of Music in Havana, Daniel came in contact with classical music, jazz, and the music of Latin-American composers. Years later he graduated from the National School of Music receiving a degree of classical pianist and professor. All of this allows Daniel to have a unique and authentic style where a fusion can be found between the formal elements of structure, the balance of classical music and the freedom of harmonies and styles of jazz reminding us of Oscar Peterson or Art Tatum among others. Nevertheless, his music is completely dedicated to the main genres of Cuban music such as Son, Changui, Guaguango, and Danzon. Even though Daniel is influenced by the contemporary influences of the music of today, his style is deeply based on the roots of Cuban music thus creating a unique and authentic musical language... Daniel has pursued his career internationally, appearing in prestigious venues thoughout Europe, Latin America. His debut CD “El piano que llevo dentro (The Piano Inside of Me)” received the 2005 Cubadisco prize in the Instrumental music category. Currently Daniel resides in Bilbao, Spain where he has been described by the critics as "one of the great pianists of universal jazz". .. Daniel Amat, pianista Cubano nacido en el pueblito de Güira de Melena- La Habana, es educado bajo acordes y ritmos oriundos de su Cuba natal. Desde muy cerca le llega toda la tradición sonera, trovadoresca y rumbera de su padre, Pancho Amat, siendo este es a su vez uno de los treseros más importantes de todos los tiempos. Años más tarde termina en la Escuela Nacional de Arte su carrera de piano clásico con la máxima calificación y felicitación especial del jurado. tiene ya también contacto con diversos géneros musicales como el jazz y la música de muy diversos compositores latinoamericanos. Todo ello le proporciona un estilo muy auténtico y genuino al tocar el piano con la sutileza encontrada en la música clásica presente en sus composiciones e improvisaciones con un deje de los grandes jazzmen recordándonos muchas veces a Oscar Peterson o Art Tatum entre otros. Sin embargo su música está al servicio del son, del changüí, del guaguancó, del danzón sin dejar que las influencias interrumpan el paso de unas raíces muy marcadas constituyendo así un estilo novedoso, con un lenguaje contemporáneo y ante todo, auténtico. .. Daniel consta de una amplia carrera internacional, habiendo aparecido en diversos paises de Europa y Latino America, así como en festivales de jazz en Montreux, North sea jazz fest. La Habana, entre otros . Su disco “El piano que llevo dentro” fue ganador en el 2005 del premio Cubadisco en las categorías de Música Instrumental y de Opera Prima. Actualmente acaba de gtrabar su segundo disco "Desde mi piano" en el que ha contado con invitados de la taya del gran maestro del piano universal Chucho Valdes u Orlando Valle Maraca uno de los más célebres flautistas del momento. Daniel vive en Bilbao, España donde ha sido calificado por la prensa nacional El País, El mundo, El correo, etc, como "uno de los grandes pianistas del jazz universal". ..
