Latin rock band from Canary Islands Avernessus was formed in 1996 by drummer Fernando Ayut, bassist Yosé Fernández, singer and guitarist Paco Hernández, and saxophonist Tito Castaqueda.
The band debuted in 1997 while playing along with Estado Vegetal and Vaticano Boyz. Later, singer and guitarist Sergio Rodríguez and drummer Jonás Sánchez joined in. Avernessus had the opportunity to play at a well-known local festival called Encuentro Independiente Canario soon after. When Fernández and Castaqueda decided to leave, bassist German Ramírez joined the group. ~ Drago Bonacich
